You need just your laptop and another standard screen ( monitor) for the external display.
Now locate the fifteen pin din port or your USB if you have a USB Connector for your monitor.
Carefully connect your screen to the laptop and power it.
You are almost done, but only a few settings:
If you are on windows do this:
1. click start
2. Click control panel
3. Click appearance
4. Click display
5. Click connect to an external display.
The window below appears for those using windows 7 Or windows vista.
Now where we have multiple displays choose " Extend the display." this will allow ypu now to work with the two screens.
On your primary screen you have all the windows and you have to drag them to the secondary display. How do you do it?
Move the mouse pointer to the left until it moves beyond the scroll bars ( I mean until it disappears to on the left. Now you will be able to see it on the second screen which maybe just showing the desktop Image. Now you have a step to go which is dragging the window you want to display on the second screen in to it.
To do just that ensure that your window is restored down and isn't maximized, such that you can drag it by the title bar. Drag it then towards the left until you see it appear on the second screen. Maximize it and there you are with your second screen showing a different thing from the primary yet they are using the same system unit.
